| Hi,
It looks like I'm not really going to be spending much time here. I've got SO much on my plate right now. So, I think I'll shut down this Xanga. If you want to stay in touch, visit me at www.xanga.com/tincottage
See you around! Robyn

| Sorry you haven't heard from me in awhile. I've been busy "going out of business".
Now that I'm no longer a shop owner, I hope to spend more time with my online pursuits. Thankfully, the new owner of the shop has allowed me to leave MOST of my books there on consignment. I'm SO relieved as we are already tripping over boxes at home. I'll try hard to get back to more frequent book posting soon.
If you want to see what I've been up to, visit me at www.shoutlife.com/FlamingHeart . I love this new Christian community site and am finding wonderful fellowship and artistic encouragement there.
Thanks to Tricia, who just subscribed, I decided I'd better drop by and say "Hi!"

| This is an older book, printed in the early 1970's. It's a book about people, their jobs and how they feel about what they do. Interesting sociological exploration.
The title on "currently reading" does not look like the one I'm offering here. The one I'm offering is white, and paperback. If you want it, be the first subscriber to request it by leaving a comment below.
WORKING by Studs Terkel
Here are some comments from the back of the book:
This is, to put it simply, a magnificient book. To read it is to hear America talking. We have a chorus of workers well worth listening to; they are enjoyable; they are inspiring... The Boston Globe
Fine Literature as well as powerful social commentary. A series of evocative nonfiction short stories. - Rolling Stone
I took this off my "to read" stack, which is seriously in competition with the Sears Tower in Chicago. Or at least the "Batman Building" in Nashville. This is one of those "to read with the fam" plans that did not happen. {Insert Bummed homeschool mom blushing... here.} My son basically chooses to pursue his own educational agenda and chooses textbooks, computer stuff, drama, Bible Quiz and his OWN reading material. Oh, and video games, phone, and IM, of course. Well, I WAS trying to raise him to be independent. Sometimes, I think I succeeded too well, too soon!

Pray for me as I work to withdraw from my local bookshop business. I'm turning it over to someone new, and will leave books with her on a consignment basis. I'm sure, however, that she is not going to want to keep ALL my books, and I sure can't afford to rent storage for them! I'll be listing more for sale online, but I have a LOT of books to deal with. Getting out of the shop will reduce my stress, but the process of getting out is not something I'm enjoying.

| This book is part of a trilogy, but it stands perfectly well, alone, on its own spine! I enjoyed it a LOT and learned a good bit, too. The book is
DARK ANGEL by Karen Harper DARK ANGEL transports readers to the peaceful Amish community in rural
Maplecreek, Ohio. Young spinster schoolteacher Leah Kurtz becomes
involved in a conflict between her horse-and-buggy culture and
futuristic genetic research after she agrees to adopt the infant
daughter of a friend dying from one of the hereditary diseases that
plague the Plain People (in real life as well as in fiction). Vicious
graffiti targeting "English" outsider Mark Morelli, a doctor
researching disease cures, sets a sinister mood that grows darker when
his ultra-responsible, teenage Amish assistant mysteriously vanishes.
After someone switches Leah's adopted baby in the cradle for another
infant, Leah and Mark team up to investigate a series of unsolved
disappearances that may lead back to Leah's former fiancé, who
abandoned her at the altar years earlier. If you are a subscriber, be the first to request it, and it's yours!
If we get 5 subscribers between now and next Saturday, I'll share a special book source with you, a place where I get books, for free (well, almost)! It's a lot of fun, and you'll want to tell your friends. Robyn | | |
